I’m going to be sharing with you my top 10 tips on how to keep a clean home. These habits I suggest you do every day to make your house look clean and organized. Those readers with kids know it’s very difficult to keep the house clean with young children, it can feel like they’re literally behind you messing up your good work as quickly as you do it. So it’s easy to let the house go. But with these tips, you can instill good habits to make things easier to be clean.
Make your Bed
I’m sure you may have heard it before, a lot of very successful people swear by it and it is to make your bed every morning. By taking a couple of minutes to make your bed can make your whole room around look and feel cleaner also make the kids beds as well because if they are still a little bit young they can recognize there bed should be made so hopefully they start to do it themselves helping start TIDY habits.
Organize your clothes and donate your unused clothes
my next step is to fold clothes in the Marie kondo Way of folding I recently read her book which is called ‘the life-changing magic of tidying up’ and it inspired me to reorganize all of my clothes like this! so you basically fold your clothes in these little parcels and then you line them up in your drawer and it makes finding things so much easier and quicker especially for children they can just open the door and find what they want to wear easily without taking every item of clothes out which can be a nightmare to refold and organize.
Do the dishes
In the morning it is a great idea to either make sure the dishwasher is empty or for those that don’t have a dishwasher make sure all the dishes are clean and put away. This is a great idea because after breakfast a lot of times we are rushed to get out the door and sometimes the dishwasher is full and we tend to stack or dishes in the sink making it easier to continue the pile on dishes when you get home. Realize the emptying the dishwasher only really takes about 5 minutes you could do it while you’re making coffee or while the kids are getting ready for school.
Wipe down the sinks and Faucets
While on the subject up sinks a good habit to instill in kids especially is to clean up the sinks. Whether it is in the kitchen some sort of food mess or in the bathrooms make sure they clean up any toothpaste splatter or hairs in the bathroom sink. This helps for making the sinks look nasty and a good idea is to have disinfectant wipes close by so wiping down the sink or faucet is very simple to do.
Clean up after cooking
Keeping with the subject of kitchens it is a great idea to clean up every time you cook because dirty countertops attract bugs and pests while also making your kitchen look gross if your dishwasher is empty is very easy too quickly load the dishwasher after each meal or snack and wipe down the counters. Then simply put any remaining food away and get on with the day.
One of my biggest problems that I deal with is stacking mail or bills or sorting Flyers constantly I get mail stacking on my countertops or desks. One of the best lessons I learned is to recycle and organize these as quickly as possible so I don’t have to deal with a big stack of papers down the road. Deal with your mail daily you can either have a shredder in the kitchen or in the office for some sensitive information but if that’s not the case quickly disposed of the mail or junk mail in the recycling and each day take the recycling out and put it in the recycling bin this will help keep your house clean and clutter-free.
Doormats and a place for shoes
When everyone gets home the most important thing is to use doormats as well as a place to put your dirty shoes. One of the easiest ways to make your house look dirty in the shortest amount of time is walking in it with dirty shoes. This will often lead to you having to either scrub the floors and vacuum the floor. Instead, just keep the dirt in the doormats and every week shake them Outdoors they’re great place the Trap outside debris.
Don’t leave a mess behind
Usually when we rushed or tired, is very easy to neglect the mess that we made. Whether we just had popcorn and watch the late-night movie leaving our cups and bowls behind, or maybe we simply had to have a coffee by our desk. Don’t forget to take our mess back to the kitchen so it can be cleaned or put in the dishwasher. If not this will just clutter up multiple rooms of the house making it a chore to track down and clean all the areas dishes and cups were left behind.
A habit that I only recently got into was doing laundry on a daily basis. It is a lot easier to pop in a load of laundry before heading out to work so that when you get home you can easily put away and organize your clothes. Most of the time if you do things regularly you only will have to do one load of laundry. Whereas before I was dealing with multiple loads and it took me multiple hours to get all my laundry done. As well as this helps keep dirty clothes off the ground. Which will make any room look dirty and unorganized.
schedule big cleans
When it comes to vacuuming mopping floors cleaning the kitchen cabinets and dusting it is a good idea to schedule these types of things. I’ve known people that will maybe do one room a day or one day out of the week we’ll do it all.
